About.

When I first started meditating, I didn’t plan on telling anyone I meditated.

I certainly never thought I'd teach meditation, and I definitely didn't expect to teach teachers how to teach meditation.

I never planned on sitting in silence in the foothills of Nepal or leading weekly meditation classes inside the walls of a prison, but as Hermann Hesse writes, “Whither will my path yet lead me? This path is stupid, it goes in spirals, perhaps in circles, but whichever way it goes, I will follow it.”

The only thing I know is that the reason these practices have stuck around for five-thousand-ish years is because they've been helping people for...five thousand-ish years, myself included.

And
because I'm a person who never considered how that meditation could be for me, I'm really good at teaching people that have never considered meditation could be for them.

Don't make it complicated:  if you can sit and you can breathe, you can meditate.  The rest will take care of itself.

(And I can help.)

Creator of the Mellow Elephant Meditation
Certified Professional-Level Mindfulness Teacher

The Mellow Bio

Billy Rosenbeck is the Creator of the Mellow Elephant Meditation and an International Mindfulness Teachers Association Certified Professional-Level Teacher.

After unwittingly finding his way to meditation in 2016, he received the Boston Buddha’s “Meditation for Everyone” Teacher Training during the winter of 2019. That summer, Billy received Wilbraham & Monsoon Academy’s Global Educators Grant, through which he traveled to Nepal to complete a silent, ten-day Vipassana Course at the Dhamma Shringa Vipassana Center north of Kathmandu. Upon his return, Billy created “Meditations in Literature,” a hybrid course combining the development of a daily meditation practice with traditional English Literature coursework, which ran at WMA from 2019 to 2024. Billy now leads this course as an adjunct professor at Western New England University.

In 2020, Billy brought meditation outside the walls of the classroom, as he began teaching meditation, mindfulness, and restorative yoga at Sweat Power Yoga in East Longmeadow, MA, where he currently serves as the studio’s Meditation Director. In 2022, he began leading meditation and mindfulness classes at Hampshire County Jail and House of Corrections, where he spearheaded an eight-week Wellness Curriculum, serving the facility’s incarcerated populations through a variety of mindfulness practices.

In 2023, Billy began leading athlete yoga at Western New England University, and in 2024, he led meditation and mental skills training for the University’s Baseball, Wrestling, and Field Hockey Programs. Billy has also curated the “Warrior’s Code,” a law enforcement-specific program that offers meditation and mindfulness to frontline workers. This program has been attended by officers from Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden County Sheriff's Departments, as well as Easthampton Police.

Other beneficiaries of Billy’s work include the State of Connecticut's Department of Children and Families, Baystate Palliative Pediatric Care, Suffield Academy, and East Longmeadow Public Schools. Most recently, Billy has been selected as a guest speaker for student-athlete development at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the 2025-26 School Year.
